First of all, I just want to give a HUGE thank you to Good Girls PR for sending me this adorable fall read. This book got me pumped for spooky season while, of course, adding a new book boyfriend to what seems like an ever-growing list.
Her Favorite Jack-O-Lantern introduces us to our FMC, Sally, and her childhood crush, Jack who moves in next door (these names ring any bells…?).
Sally is authentically herself, although she is a bit of a black sheep in her small town. Her love of all things spooky makes her look like the embodiment of Halloween, 24/7. Even outcast and shunned by her peers, she stands her ground and continues to do the things that bring her joy.
Jack on the other hand has no idea who he is after returning home after his time in the army. After years of being told what to do and when to do it, he realizes he doesn’t know what makes him happy. When his adorable, Halloween-esque neighbor stops by to introduce herself with a tray of cookies, he quickly re-discovers what makes him smile.
This book had me hooked from the start and had some spicy scenes that had me blushing way too hard. Some of my favorite tropes were included in this book with small-town romance, opposites attract and childhood crush-to-lover. The book was giving Gilmore Girls mixed with Mean Girls and I couldn’t get enough of it. While there were some exciting scenes, I was definitely anticipating more drama between Sally and her nemesis, so I was a little disappointed at the lack of climax at the end of the book.
If you are looking for a fall book to put you in a pumpkin spice (or apple cider for my fellow fall drink lovers) mood, this book is for you. Make sure to grab your coziest blanket, light a candle and check it out on Kindle Unlimited today!
